Kajal Shah
1977Kajal Shah was born in 1977 in Junaghadh, Gujarat.
In 1988 Kajal received her diploma in painting from C. N. College of Fine Arts, Ahmedabad. In 2002 she received her post diploma of fine arts in graphics from M.S. University, Baroda.
She has participated in several group shows:
In 1996 - 2002 she took part in ‘Expressive Eight Group’, Ahmedabad, Mumbai and Delhi (Painting and Graphics). In 2004 she participated in ‘Pratyaksha Paroksha’ at the Jehangir Art Gallery, Mumbai. In 2006 she took part in ‘Footprints’ (travelling show) organized by CHAAP (Baroda) in Bangalore, Mumbai, Hyderabad and Baroda. In 2008 she took part in ‘Dynamic perception’ at Tamarind Art Gallery, New York. In 2016 she participated in ‘A Labyrinth of Tales – I’ at Gallery 7, Kalaghoda in Mumbai. Kajal has participated in different exhibitions, art fairs, workshops and camps: In 1996 - 2003 she participated in the 36th – 43rd Gujarat Rajya Lalit Kala Exhibition, Ahmedabad. In 1999 she participated in the Kyoto International Wood print association organized exhibition (Japan). In 2002 she took part in the 110 All India Annual Art Exhibition (Painting) at Jehangir Art Gallery, Mumbai. In 2004 she participated in the 6th International print biennale at Bharat Bhavan, Bhopal. In 2005 she took part in 47th National Art Exhibition, Lucknow. In 2007 she participated in 49th National Art Exhibition in Bhopal. In 2008 she took part in the Art Summit at Pragati Maidan, Delhi. In 2002 - 2003 she took part in the Kalaghoda Art Festival, Mumbai.
Kajal has won awards and scholarships: In 1998 she received the Gujarat Rajya Lalit Sabha scholarship for higher studies in graphics in Gujarat. In 2000 she won the award in the 40th Rajya Lalit Kala Exhibition for Graphics, Ahmedabad. In 2002 she joined Art in Resident Programme (fellowship) in printmaking at Kanoria Centre for Arts, Ahmedabad. In 2001 - 2003 she worked as an Artist in Resident Programme (Painting) at Kanoria Centre, Ahmedabad. In 2003 - 2005 she won the Young Artist Scholarship in different fields (Painting) (HRD) Ministry of Culture & Tourism, Gujarat.
She lives and works in Ahmedabad.
