Paramjit Singh was born in 1935 in Amritsar, Punjab.

In 1958 he received his Diploma in Fine Arts from Delhi School of Arts, New Delhi. In 1973 he studied Printmaking in Atelier Nord, Oslo, Norway.

He had several solo exhibitions in India and overseas:
In 1967 he had one man show at Triveni Gallery, New Delhi. In 1969 - 1970 he showcased solo at Gallery Chanakya, New Delhi. In 1972 he had a solo exhibition at Kunika Chemould Gallery, New Delhi. In 1973 he had a solo exhibition at Kunstner Forbundent in Oslo, Norway. In 1974, 1978, 1985, 1990 & 1996 he had solo shows at Gallery Chemould, Mumbai. In 1975, 1979, 1984 & 1987 he had one-man shows at Dhoomimal Gallery, New Delhi. In 1981 he had a solo show at Mainz, Germany and Gallery Alana in Oslo, Norway. In 1983 and 1985 he had solo exhibitions at Gallery Caprano at Braunhewig, Germany. In 1987 he showcased solo at Cultural Center, Bomlitz in Germany. In 1989 he had a solo exhibition at Gallery Kilian in Celle, Germany. In 1990 he had one man show at CCA, New Delhi. In 1995 he had a solo show at The Gallerie, Chennai and CIMA, Calcutta. In 1995, 1998 and 2001 he had solo shows at Vadehra Gallery, New Delhi. In 1996 he had a solo exhibition at City Art Centre, Hong Kong. In 1997 he had one-man show at Sakshi Gallery, Bangalore. In 1999 he had one person show at CIMA, Calcutta. In 2001 he showcased solo at Air Gallery, London. In 2004 he had one-man show at Talwar Gallery, New York. In 2005 he had a solo show at Sakshi Gallery, Mumbai.

Paramjit participated in various group shows:
In 1957 Paramjit participated in Young Asian Artists in Tokyo, Japan. In 1958 he participated in Seven Painters Exhibition in New Delhi. In 1959 he participated in Nine Painters Exhibition in New Delhi. In 1960, 1961 & 1962 he took part in The Unknown in New Delhi. In 1963 he took part in In Memory of Sailoz Mukherjee at Kunika Chemould, New Delhi. In 1967 he participated in Trends in Romanticism at Jehangir Art Gallery, Mumbai. In 1969, 1971 & 1972 he took part in Art Today at Kunika Chemould, New Delhi. In 1970 he took part in Art Expo 70, Indian Pavilion in Osaka, Japan. In 1971, 1974, 1977 and 1982 he participated in International Triennial in New Delhi. In 1972 he participated in Two Artists show at Gallery Chemould, Mumbai. In 1973 he took part in Print Exhibition by Atelier Nord & Gallery 71 in Tromso, Norway. In 1977 he took part in Pictorial Space, New Delhi. In 1980 he participated in Silver Jubilee Exhibition in Miniature Format at Lalit Kala Akademi, New Delhi. In 1981 he participated in Indian Art Today in Dramstadt, Germany. In 1984 he showcased in the Inaugural Exhibition at Bharat Bhavan, Bhopal and took part in the Art Biennale, Ankara in Turkey. In 1986 he participated in the Biennial at Roopankar, Bharat Bhavan in Bhopal. In 1987 he exhibited in Festival of India in Russia. In 1988 he participated in 25 years anniversary show at Jehangir Art Gallery, Mumbai and took part in the International Festival of Art in Baghdad, Iraq. In 1989 he took part in Artists Alert, exhibition for Safdar Hashmi Memorial Trust, New Delhi and in Nature and Environment at Lalit Kala Akademi, New Delhi. In 1990 he participated in a group show at Habitat Gallery, Habitat Centre in New Delhi. In 1991 he participated in Nine International Contemporaries at CCA, New Delhi. In 1992 he showcased in Husain ki Sarai at Vadehra Gallery, New Delhi and Birla Academy Silver Jubilee show in Calcutta. In 1993 he took part in exhibition organized by ZPM and Gallery Espace in Sharjah, Dubai and participated in Indian Encounter at The Galleries, London, New York & Dubai. In 1994 he took part in Trends & Images by CIMA, Calcutta; participated in Drawings 94 at Gallery Espace, New Delhi and Art Biennial at Cairo, Egypt. In 2002 he had two people show, Landscape Inner and Outer at Talwar Gallery, New York.

Paramjit won several awards:
In 1970 he won the National Award at Lalit Kala Akademi, New Delhi and he was recipient of Sahitya Parishad Sanman at Sahitya Kala Parishad. In 2005 he was honored Professor Emeritus at Jamia Millia Islamia.

Paramjit lives and works in New Delhi.
