Anil Gaikwad was born in 1969 in Janakpur.

Anil has had several solo shows:
In 2000 he had a solo show at Taj Art Gallery, Mumbai. In 2002 he exhibited solo at Anant Art Gallery, New Delhi and North Central Zone Cultural Centre, Allahabad. In 2006 he had a solo show at Lalit Kala Akademy, New Delhi. In 2003 he exhibited solo at Kala Parishad, Bhopal. In 2010 he exhibited Emergence at Alliance Françoise De Bhopal. In 2015 he showcased solo exhibitions at Varija Art Gallery, Chennai; at Bharat Bhavan, Bhopal and Lalit Kala Akademi, New Delhi. In 2016 he had a solo exhibition at Lalit Kala Akademi, New Delhi.

He participated in several group shows:
From 1990-1999 he took part in several group exhibitions in Indore, Mumbai, Bhopal, New Delhi and Varanasi. In 1997, 1999, 2003, 2006, 2009 and 2012 he participated in a group exhibition at Jehangir Art Gallery, Mumbai. In 1997 he took part in Rang Darshan at Bharat Bhavan, Bhopal. In 1999, 2002 and 2004 he took part in a group exhibition at Lalit Kala Akademi, New Delhi. From 2002 - 2007 he participated in several group exhibitions in New Delhi, Hyderabad, Mumbai, Bhopal, Kolkata, Germany and Bangalore. From 2008 - 2012 he participated in several group exhibitions in Bangalore, Bhopal, New Delhi, Mumbai, Coimbatore, Hyderabad and Pune. In 2010 he exhibited in a group show at Nehru Centre, London. In 2011 he participated in a group exhibition at Bharat Bhavan, Bhopal. From 2013 - 2016 he participated in group shows in Khajurao, Bhopal, Agra, Mumbai, Indore and New Delhi. In 2014 he took part in a group exhibition Silent Windows at Gallery 7, Kalaghoda in Mumbai. In 2016 he took part in Art Beyond Boundaries at Bharat Bhavan, Bhopal and participated in Rang-Adhyatm at Nehru Centre Art Gallery, Mumbai.

Anil has won several awards:
In 1993 he won the Padmashri Vakankar Smriti Award in Ujjain. In 1999 he won the AIFACS Scholarship Award, New Delhi. In 2002 he received the M.P. State Raza Award in Bhopal.

Anil lives and works in Bhopal.
